My First Birthday Present in 2010

I received my first birthday present today for the year 2010! It's seriously an early birthday pressie as it's 2 more weeks to my birthday.

But well, it's considered a 'surprise' gift as it's from my boss. Yes, my BOSS. I got a feeling that he will get me a gift as he asks me when is my birthday in front of his business partners while we were on our way to a dinner meeting and being the buay paisei me, I just told him it's 18th and asks for a pressie straight! Hahahhaa...

Guess part of it works! Hahahahah.. he was on the phone when we arrive at the restaurant (it's at DFS!Perfect location to ask for birthday pressie during dinner! Hhahaha!!) and he excuse himself from the table and he was gone for a while. And when he came back, he handed me the gift :)

To be honest, I was a little disappointed when I saw the LV carrier (it's a small carrier) as I dun think I need anything from there and I am not a huge fan of the brand. But nevertheless, it's really the thoughts that counts. At least he bothered to ask and seriously got me a pressie.

Well, I would say it's quite a nice cardholder with quite an adequate amount of compartments. This will come in handy for my namecards (that's what my boss wants me to use it as and to give out more namecards for networking/business purposes) and some cash when I go out without my giant bags :)

So looking forward to more pressies!!!

Well, I didn't take any pictures of the food simply because I was too hungry and taking pictures seriously didn't cross my mind when the food was served. Hahhahaha..

Birthday celebrations at Hard Rock are damm high profile la! They actually "invite" the birthday girl/boy to the stage and EVERYONE in the restaurant will sing a birthday song for him/her! OMGoodness! So damm drama la.. And with our low profile birthday girl, we specially request them to just quietly bring out the cake! Hahhaa..when a waiter brought the cake out, the other waiter standing beside him attempted to sing the birthday song out loud and the one who was holding the cake quickly stopped him, saying,"later I kanna complain la! they want it a quiet affair!" Hahhahaha..do we have the face of a complain queen? *innocent look*

(The birthday cake was meant to have only ONE candle but the waiter just put both (1 have a spare candle) and Mdm Boo buay paisei..Insists that she is only 20 years old *roll eyes* (-_-)")

(To sidetrack a little) I bought a very pretty Precious Moment Cinderella figurine holding a pretty birthday cake for Mdm Boo (but I forgot to take picture) and Mdm Boo is so dui lian la! Firstly, she couldn't recognise that the figurine is Cinderella and still says that it looks like ah soh!!!! OMG!! I wanna faint la! My inital thoughts are that I AM the " cinderella" holding the cake to her and when she mentioned 'ah soh', it's super turn off la!! Totally don't want to associate myself with it anymore la..(-_-)"

 

1st wish : I wished Miss Boo will lose all her unnecessary fats, be a beautiful bride and get a good deal for her dream home next year!

2nd wish : I wished both me and Miss Boo will strike Toto (first prize!), have a great career and earn heaps of money!

3rd wish : I wish there will be a little me or little mr lai crawling around the house soon!! Hahhahaha!

Mundane days = Bitchy days

Life has been pretty much of a routine recently and it's kinda boring =( Time flies at work (especially last week) and 一转眼, it's Friday! TGIF! What else can I do other than bitching in my thoughts when my days are boring enough??

I have been conducting interviews and interviews every other day and it's seriously taxing. Especially when one of the major criteria for the candidates is that they MUST look pretty. It makes me feel that in today's society, if you are neither pretty nor rather pleasant looking and does not make the slightest effort to dress up, you cant get a decent job, or rather something that pays you pretty decently and in a nice environment. Reality is harsh but it's a fact.

This is definitely true to a certain extend as if one does not even have the energy to make themselves look presentable, how hardworking can one be? EVERYONE loves to look at pretty things, be it human or items (Don't talk me about inner beauty. People judge you by the first impression and if you are fat, bad complexion, deep eyebags, no makeup and with BO, NOBODY will think that you have inner beauty as no one, or rather, no man will seriously want to consider "exploring" whatever inner beauty you think you may have.) 

After speaking and looking at 392761655389201 candidates, I simply can't understand why will some people can actually turn up for interviews in shorts and flip flops and absolutely zero makeup, exposing all their acnes, eyebags and seriously bad complexion that is shouting for 995. Do they even think that it is seriously appropriate(C'mon, its an interview! Especially when I put "makeup required" in the ads!)? If one have beautiful complexion and features, I am seriously fine with them coming in with minimal makeup

I am starting to feel sick even looking at them (I know I sound like a bitch)! Let alone wanting to even speak to them. These are seriously inconsiderate as they spoils my day (I am a bitch who Loves pretty things) and makes me feel so demoralised! They should seriously do some self reflection as they are bringing negative energy to this society! Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..

I'll just pray that I will have good candidates later.

Shopping Sunday

Did I mentioned that I was really excited about going for a shopping trip on Sunday? Well, I was really excited about it as my entire Saturday plans was spoiled all thanks to you-know-who(if any of you doesnt know who I am talking about then it's too bad ;p) and I gotta be in my office to settle some stuffs throughout my entire evening.

My torturous Saturday pasted and Sunday finally arrived! I went to Ion and chiong into Zara. Guess what?? I seriously think that Zara had a change of buyers! 75% of the entire shop carries clothes that is seriously targeted at all the xiao meimeis!!!! The material and designs are so trashy! I couldn't believe my eyes when I was browsing through the collections! They even carry dresses that looked like what a lot of people are selling on the blogshops! Dresses that looked like it's a 2 piece outfit and sewn together. Top is black/white with floral bottom! OMG!!!! If people can get the almost exact same thing for $20, why would they pay $60 for it???? Plus, the material sucks.

Well, people might say that Zara has the TRF collection, Zara and Zara woman collection and not all of them are bad. BUT, only 15% of the Zara collection are normal which means they carries the basic wear like basic pants and cardis and the rest, seriously, are not worth looking at.

After Zara, I shopped around and still didnt manage to get anything. Maybe like what BB says, this season of clothings are just not suitable for me or rather, just not me. We went to rest our feet at TWG.

The ambience is pretty nice and it will be even nicer if it's not so cramp :) Other than the ambience and it's normal tea, I don't think I will go back for any other reasons. Maybe it's just me as I am not an extreme tea lover and I simply don't know how to appreciate foie gras. Alot of their bites consists of that and I seriously don't like the taste of it plus, they have too much 'tea' in everything..even in their macaroons, which is a major turn-off for me.

BB was being adventurous as usual and ordered this lychee with some rose tea (can't remember the name) and it all sound so good! Well, never judge a drink by its name. This drink is super bitter! Yes, BITTER. It looked so innocent, nice and smooth and who will expect this lychee drink to be bitter??

I ordered the Club sandwich which is not too bad, except that all the ingredients (tomatoes, egg and chicken) are not being placed under one portion. It comes in tomato sandwich, chicken sandwich and egg sandwich. Well, it's a club sandwich afterall as it is ALL being placed on a plate. -_-"

Lastly is the macaroons. I am excited as I love macaroons! Well, maybe it's a suay day for me as even the macaroons are not to my liking. The macaroons are infused with tea flavors...and it tasted so weird!

Being deprived of shopping and having an extremely bad day, something finally cheered me up. I finally bought a pair of nice earrings :D

I've been wanting to get a nice pair of earrings for a while and I am glad I didn't get the one from Chanel as it's a little too loud plus there are a zillion people wearing it (both real and fake ones). This pair is sweeter and I like the dark green swarovski crystal with a little "D" hanging over it.

Finally, at least I found something that I like and cheered myself up a little :D

Kids - Blessing or Diaster?

Everyone will say, babies are sooooooooooooooooo fun and cute!! Of course they will say so (even I do) because I am not the one taking care of them ;p Babies are ALWAYS fun to play with and some of them are soooooooooo adorable!

Seriously, I have always love babies. Babies - not kids. You'll might think that I am mad cause babies will grow up to be kids but babies and kids are really different. I always love that babies are sooooo adorable and innocent and gives you that cheeky smile that melts your heart. But for kids, my tolerance level is seriously low unless they are very well-behaved.

The other day, BB's cousin brought her kids over for dinner (she has 3 girls - 9 yrs old, 5 yrs old and 5 months old). She is probably just 2 to 3 years my senior and I really think that she is quite good to manage 3 kids. Initially, the kids will quite nice and they are quite adorable. They came to my room and chat with me. I guess kids are like that..they like to ask alot of questions, keep talking non-stop wanting all your attention and I am still fine with that.

Shortly after dinner, I need to get change to go for mahjong session and the girls refuse to come out of the room. They started to jump on my bed NON-STOP, giggling and shouting at the same time and they are seriously bringing up the heat in the room (aircon is not exactly cold and I am sweating. I have low tolerance level for humidity). One thing I can't stand is extremely uncontrollable kids. I told them to stop jumping and they simply ignore me, continue jumping and maybe they thought I am playing with them but my face is seriously black by then. I can't exactly scold them either as it is not nice but when I imagine them running around and jumping on MY bed, seriously makes my blood boil. When one of them starts playing with my things, I had almost reach my limit (I admit that my patience and tolerance level is seriously low). I refuse to answer their question as I am afraid that I might just scold them and luckily BB can totally sense my anger and ask them to stop playing with my things and ask them to go out of the room.

Maybe some of you will say that I am a selfish person and should have more patience for kids because they ARE LIKE THAT. Seriously, those who says the above sentence obviously don't know how to teach your kids. I had seen very well-behaved kids who are oh-so-sweet! How your kids behave depends on how you teach them and it's a parent's responsibilty to teach them the right behaviour at the right place and situation. I understand that alot of parents may not bear to be strict with their kids as they will feel the heartache when the kids cry but this is seriously not right! By doing that, you will be causing more harm than good to them!(Maybe Mdm Boo can open a school for parents to send naughty kids to and have a 2week's camp with her, I am sure the kids will be super well-behaved after that. Don't be mistaken, Mdm Boo loves babies and kids but she has her own ways to make sure they behave. Hahhaa..)

After looking at them, I suddenly thought to myself, "Am I seriously suitable to have kids?" Can I tolerate such behaviour??Will I go crazy shouting at them and making sure they behave themselves? I am seriously not sure. BB kept saying that our future baby will be closer to him (I told him, "Good! Then you can take care of them! Hahaha..save me from my wrinkles!) as I am going to be a fierce mum but I am fine with that as long as he/she listens to me and behave themselves well (I definitely love my baby but I need them to know what's right and wrong)

Even if I am going to have kids, I'll probably stop at one as I know I am definitely going to be bias and I do not want the other one to feel left out. And I'll try my best to make sure my baby is going to behave himself/herself as I seriously can't stand ill-mannered kids (especially those who scream and shouts at the top of their piercing voice in shopping malls when you refuse to buy them toys).

Baggie bags woes

Guess I have been too deprived of new bags recently (Well, I can't splurge every other month as I need to save up for my new home and wedding). I kept having the urge to buy a bag. A nice bag. But at the same time, I don't want to spend a few thousand dollars on one (though I really like Prada and Chanel..arghhhhhhh):(

I am thinking of getting the good old speedy with a nice bag charm as I had always like speedy but didn't get it all these years as a zillion people are carrying it. But, as I am on a budget, speedy is cheap! and I like the combination of the beige leather against the iconic canvas.

But what Mdm Boo said set me thinking as she mentioned that I do not have a proper bag (aka boring and dull and down to earth) for job interviews (which I may be going in future). All my current bags are way too loud for interviews :(

Hence, if I am not getting the good old speedy, which bag should I get?

Before I show you'll all the boring bags, I came across this interesting bag from Diane Von Furstenberg :)

 I personally like the colors and the style of the bag.

Now to the proper and cooperate and down to earth bags. I can't decide as there are quite a few ones on the market.

Mulberry Hayden tote

This is a classic simple tote bag from Mulberry. The color is certainly boring but I guess this is more 'tone down' and would be fine for interviews. But then again, this bag comes in a nice purple too!

It looks so much nicer right?????

The Alexa! Though it doesnt look all that fantastic in brown..But it's still not too bad.

Basic Miu Miu bags. Not too loud and expensive.

And lastly,

Bottega Veneta. This is the brand's signature design. Nice??? It's simple and classy.

I seriously can't decide what bag to get. Any suggestions?

Busy Sunday Busy BB

BB had been real busy recently because he needs to rush his work for his upcoming trip in June. As many of you had already know, he is going away for 4 months. Yes, it's gonna be a looooonng long 4 miserable months for me :(

He is so busy that he went back to office to rush his work on a Sunday. After his friend's baby shower, we bought some snacks and went back to his office. It is my first time in his office and I finally saw his boring work desk. Hahhaha..

His work desk is very boring. Nothing interesting..no interesting cards, no snacks..just tons and tons of paper. But I found this plasticine aeroplane on his friend's desk and BB says he's the one who moulded it!

My BB is quite creative after all. Hahahha! Then I decided to spice up his boring desk calendar with my ugly drawing :p

I was doodling on both our birth dates. He had marked down mine but his own date is empty. So I drew that onto his date (and I doubt he saw it cause he didnt flip the page over to the month of June) as he will be out at sea on his birthday :(

As I was exploring around, I found a 'treasure chest'!

A treasure chest full of snacks and with more spilling out on the other side! Quite cool right? To have a 'treasure chest' to store all the goodies instead of lying them around.

While BB is slogging away, I am having quite a good time eating, snacking and drinking my favourite bubble tea and of course, updating my blog. Hahahaha..

Hope BB is able to finish his work early and we can go back home ^^
